NCAA Men's Singles Championship - Round of 32

May 25, 2006

No. 1 men's seed Benjamin Kohlloeffel, UCLA
"I came out really flat. I don't know why. I played him two weeks ago and it was an easy match, and maybe it was bad that I didn't come out really fired up. I couldn't pick it up the whole game, I don't know what was wrong. I'm just happy that I got through."

Unseeded Roger Matalonga, Arizona (upset No. 2 men's seed John Isner of Georgia)
"I am really happy because now I become an All-American. I was an All-American in doubles last year and I'm a senior, so playing the No. 2 guy in the draw, I didn't have that much hope and he's been playing unbelievable in the team event. So I just went out there and tried to have fun, and suddenly, I came back from that breaker [Matalonga was down 5-1 in the first-set tie-break] and I feel like I was just playing really well. It means everything to me to become an All-American because it's a lot of work for me and the coaches and my teammates. I'm just so happy right now."

No. 3 men's seed doubles Ryan Rowe and Kevin Anderson, Illinois
Rowe, on today's three-set match against Stanford's James Pade -
"It was a really good match with a lot of good points. They came out well and broke our serve pretty easily and were up the first three quarters of the match, but we stuck in there and fought and it worked out for us. We kept doing what we had to do."
Anderson, on tomorrow's Round of 16 match against Georgia's Bobusic and Purcell - "We're looking forward to it, but it's just another match, we're taking it one at a time. We're not concerned with who we're playing, we're just playing the ball. We're going to go out there and keep fighting and give it everything we have."
