Only three of the top eight seeds remain in the men's singles competition: No. 1 Benjamin Kohlloeffel of UCLA, No. 6 Conor Niland of California and No. 8 Travis Helgeson of Texas ... Losing today was third seeded Luigi D'Agord of Miami to unseeded Clement Reix of Clemson, 6-2, 6-4, fifth-seed Ludovic Walter of Duke, who lost to Somdev Devvarman of Virginia, 6-2, 6-3 and No. 7 Arnau Brugues of Tulsa to Stanford's KC Corkery, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 ... Tomorrow's featured quarterfinal match will pit Pac-10 rivals Kohlloeffel against Niland in the only match with two seeded players ... Of the eight remaining players in the singles competition, three are seeded in the top eight (Kohlleoffel, Niland, Helgeson), one is seeded 9-16 (Devvarman) and four are unseeded (Tveit, Corkery, Reix and Parbhu) ... Of the eight remaining schools, since 1977 only Stanford, UCLA and Texas have had players win NCAA Singles titles ... The last player from one of the remaining schools to win the NCAA singles title was Alex Kim of Stanford in 2000.

The two highest seeds won today while four of the eight remaining teams are unseeded ... No. 2 Andre Begemann and Scott Doermer of national champion Pepperdine and No. 3 seed Kevin Anderson and Ryan Row of Illinois won their matches today and advanced to the quarterfinals ... No. 4 seed Raian Luichici and Brad Pomeroy of North Carolina were beaten today by unseeded Markus Dickhardt and Benedikt Stonk of San Diego State ... The only other seeded team still in the tournament is Marco Born and Andreas Siljestrom of Middle Tennessee State, a 5-8 seed, who beat Pramod Dabir and Ryler DeHeart of Illinois.
