Stanford, Calif. - Stanford wrestlers finished second among Division I wrestling programs for the 2006-07 season, when the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced its annual All-Academic Top 30 and individual All-Academic wrestling teams last week. Led by Academic All-Americans, Tanner Gardner, Luke Feist, Brian Perry and Josh Zupancic, Stanford's team GPA was 3.368, which was less than .02 points below the top spot.
Two-time All-American Gardner, the 2007 Pac-10 Champion, recorded the fifth highest GPA of all Division I wrestlers and was one of only two All-Americans in the top-10. Zupancic was listed 12th and made his second appearance on the All-Academic team, while Perry and Feist made their first.
Individually, wrestlers must have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, been an NCAA qualifier or won 60 percent of his total schedule - and must have competed in at least 60 percent of said schedule. The other way to qualify for the All-Academic team is have a 3.0 cumulative and been an NCAA All-American.
