SENIORS Theresa Logar and Anne Yelsey close out impressive collegiate careers having won three national championships. They led the Cardinal to an unthinkable 110-2 overall record during their four years. Both are two-time All-Americans who will once again receive consideration for the award this year. STANFORD's 4-2 loss to UCLA snaps a 20-match winning streak against the Bruins. The Cardinal's last loss to its Southern California nemesis came back on Apr. 3, 1998 in the form of a 5-4 setback in Los Angeles.

This year's UCLA squad could have easily ended that lengthy streak earlier this year. Stanford edged UCLA 4-3 twice in dual match play this season, winning Feb. 17 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium and Apr. 13 in Los Angeles.

STANFORD women's tennis remains in second place in NCAA history with 15 national championships. North Carolina women's soccer holds the top distinction, having won 18 national titles. ONE day after providing a 6-2, 6-4 clincher in a 4-1 win over Miami, Whitney Deason dropped the deciding match to UCLA's Ashley Joelson. Deason had been one of Stanford's hottest players down the stretch, winning five of her previous six matches entering Monday's semifinal. Her 25 victories this year bring her career win total to 86. ANNE Yelsey had dropped just one dual match since February entering tonight's contest against UCLA's Tracy Lin at No. 2 singles.

Yelsey was defeated by California's Zsuzsanna Fodor 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 back on Apr. 21. Otherwise, she had won 13 of her last 14 dual matches before tonight. Of those 13 victories, 11 were of the straight-set variety.

In addition, she had defeated Lin twice during the regular season.

Yelsey's career overall record now stands at 95-22.
