Stanford, CA - Stanford women's lacrosse goalkeeper Laura Shane was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and US Lacrosse All-American second team it was announced Wednesday. Shane joins 47 other student-athletes on the three IWLCA/USL All-American teams.

This marks the second straight All-American selection for Shane, who joined former teammate Megan Burker as the first Stanford All-Americans last season. The Baltimore native adds this latest award to her IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region selection, MPSF Tournament MVP and All-MPSF honors this season.

Shane led the Cardinal to its third straight MPSF title this season, helping Stanford avenge conference losses to Denver and Oregon in the MPSF Tournament. The Baltimore native posted 28 saves and a 6.51 goals against average over three games en route to the championship.

The junior finished the 2007 season ranked seventh in the nation with a .531 save percentage and 18th in the country in goals against average at 9.7. While protecting the cage this season, Shane teamed with her defense to help the Cardinal finish 2007 in the top 20 in scoring defense.

During the regular season, Shane earned MPSF all-conference honors after becoming the new Stanford career saves leader on March 4 and leading the team with 35 ground balls. Shane posted a 9-8 record this season.

Shane was one of just three goalkeepers named to the All-American teams. Denver's Kristie Leggio joined Shane as the only two MPSF players earning national recognition.

The IWLCA and US Lacrosse named 48 student-athletes in Division I to the three All-American teams, and will honor the National All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 16, 2007 in King of Prussia, PA.
