Stanford, Calif. - Four Stanford women's lacrosse players were named to the the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's (MPSF) 2007 all-conference team on Thursday, giving the Cardinal four all-MPSF honorees for the second consecutive year.
Senior midfield Liz Piselli, juniors goalkeeper Laura Shane and attack Daphne Patterson and freshman midfield Lauren Schmidt all earned recognition by the MPSF. The conference also announced Kristie Leggio of Denver as its Player of the Year, Ali Flury, also a Pioneer, as its Newcomer of the Year and Oregon's Jen Larsen as its Coach of the Year.
Piselli earned her second straight all-conference selection after leading the Cardinal with 40 draw controls this season. Piselli made her way into the top three in three all-time in draw contols and moved up to eighth all-time in assists.
Shane made her third consecutive All-MPSF team this year. The junior led the team with 27 ground balls this year. Shane took hold of the Stanford record for both games played and saves in 2007, while playing every minute of every game in the cage for the Cardinal.
Patterson finished the regular season as the Cardinal's scoring leader with 31 points on 26 goals and five assists. The selection is the first of Patterson's career.
Schmidt roared onto the scene in her first season with Stanford, finishing second on the team in goals with 21, fourth in assists with seven and third in points with 28. Schmidt also led the team with seven free position goals this year.
