Stanford, Calif.- Mari Chun was selected to the 2008 All-Pac-10 women's golf second team on Thursday when the award winners were announced. Also being honored for Stanford was Catherina Wang who was named honorable mention.
Chun has been Stanford's most consistent performer all season with four top-10 finishes. Chun's top finish was a tie for third at the Peg Barnard Invitational earlier this month. She also had a top-5 finish at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in February.
Chun carries a 73.9 scoring average for the season with a low round of 68 at the Stanford Intercollegiate in October. This is the second consecutive All-Pac-10 Second Team honor for Chun.
Catherina Wang is coming off her most impressive tournament at the Pac-10 Championships when she led Stanford golfers by finishing in a tie for 10th. During the final round Wang fired a 1-under-par 70, her low round of the season and one of just three rounds in red numbers that day.
This is the first post-season Pac-10 honor for Wang. She has a 76.5 stroke average in eight tournaments this season.
Tiffany Joh of UCLA was named Pac-10 golfer of the year. Pac-10 Champion USC swept the freshman of the year and coach of the year honors when freshman Lizette Salas and head coach Andrea Gaston were honored.
