Academic All-MPSF Selections in PDF Format ![]()
STANFORD, Calif. - Seven members of the Stanford women's water polo team were honored Tuesday as the MPSF announced its Academic All-MPSF selections. The Cardinal's seven selections were the second-most of all the MPSF schools, and the total marks the fifth consecutive year that Stanford had at least seven student-athletes earn Academic All-MPSF honors.
The criteria for being named Academic All-MPSF included: a 3.0 or better cumulative grade-point average, the student-athlete being at least a sophomore, academically, having completed at least one full academic year at the institution prior to the 2008 season, and the student-athlete must have competed in at least 50% of her team's contests in 2008.
Senior Jacquelyn Gauthier (3.54, American studies/sociology) earned her third consecutive Academic All-MPSF honor, while Kira Hillman (3.47, human biology), Megan May (3.71, human biology), and Heather West (3.81, environmental history) all earned their second selections. Junior Koree Blyleven (3.59, public policy) and sophomores Kelly Eaton (3.01, biological sciences) and Kelsey Holshouser (sociology/management science & engineering) all earned their first selections.
For Gauthier and West, the honor adds to an already impressive 2008 resume. Gauthier was also named All-MPSF honorable mention following the MPSF Tournament in April, and earned a spot on the All-Tournament First Team at the 2008 National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championships, while West was named to the second team.
Stanford turned in a third-place national finish in 2008, sporting a 27-5 overall record. The Cardinal also posted an 11-1 mark in MPSF play, good for a second-place conference regular-season finish.
