STANFORD, Calif. - Redshirt senior Sho Nakamori was named the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) NCAA Gymnast of the Week on April 6 for the week of competition between March 30-April 5.
It the fourth time in his career and second time this season he has earned the award.Nakamori helped lift the Cardinal past defending national champion Oklahoma at the 2009 MPSF Championships on April 4, 2009 by posting six scores about 15.0 which contributed to Stanford team score of 36375, the squad's highest total of the year.
Nakamori captured four individual event titles (pommel horse, parallel bars, horizontal bar, and all-around) and was named the MPSF Gymnast of the Year for his performances at the conference meet and over the course of the season.
His scores of 15.45 on floor exercise, 15.25 on pommel horse, 15.55 on vault, and 91.85 in all-around at the MPSF Championships marked career best marks, while his 15.2 on still rings qualified as a personal season best.
