Woodland, Calif. - Nine members of the Stanford men's gymnastics team were named to the Academic All-MPSF team on Friday, as announced my commissioner Al Beaird. The honorees for Stanford were by far the most in the conference.
Abhinav Ramani led the Cardinal honorees with a grade point average of 3.859 in mechanical engineering. Ramani also had the top gpa in the conference. The redshirt sophomore and captain had a big season for Stanford, earning the first All-America honor of his career on the horizontal bar.
Three Cardinal men that are graduating this spring were also honored. Senior Eric Hergenrader and redshirt juniors, Lucas Hughes and Nicholas Noone were also recognized for their excellence in the classroom. Noone earned a pair of All-America honors this year, giving him four for his carreer.
NCAA individual champion, Ryan Lieberman, led a group of three juniors to be named Academic All-MPSF. Joining Lieberman were Alex Buscaglia and Tim Gentry. This group combined for five All-America honors in 2010 and has amassed 10 combined for their careers.
Finally, a pair of sophomores were also honored. Jordan Nolff and Cameron Foreman both earned their first Academic All-MPSF honors.
Stanford men's gymnastics finished the 2010 season as the national runner-up, just missing out on the NCAA title by less than a point. In addition, Lieberman and Eddie Penev earned individual NCAA titles.
