SEATTLE-- No. 18-ranked Stanford (21-16, 10-7 Pac-10) dropped its third straight and second game in the Pacific Northwest, following a 8-1 loss to host Washington (23-19, 7-7 Pac-10) before 2,258 fans at Safeco Field on Saturday evening.

Andrew Kittredge (6-3) allowed just one run on six hits over 7.1 innings, striking out eight and walking two for the series clinching win.

Three Stanford errors led to three unearned runs and a 5-1 Washington lead after four innings. UW scored two in the first, two more in the third off a two-run single by Chase Anselment and added another in the fifth, as the Cardinal made an error in each of those innings.

Jordan Pries (3-2) for the second consecutive week could not get to the fifth, pitching 4.1 innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits. Prior, the sophomore righthander had reached at least that many innings in 12 consecutive starts.

Stanford will close out the series on Sunday at noon with RHP Brian Busick (4-1, 3.89) slated to throw for the Cardinal.
