Men's Basketball Holds Annual Team Awards Banquet

STANFORD, Calif.- Juniors Jeremy Green and Josh Owens walked away with four awards apiece, highlighting the Stanford men's basketball annual awards banquet on Monday night at Jimmy V's Sports Café inside the Arrillaga Family Sports Center.

Green earned the Hank Luisetti MVP award, following a season in which he was named to the All-Pac-10 First Team while leading Stanford in scoring and three-point shooting. Owens was named the Most Inspirational Player, leading the Cardinal in rebounding and ranking second in scoring in his return to the hardwood after sitting out the previous year.

Junior Andrew Zimmermann was the third recipient of the Captains award.

Junior Jarrett Mann captured a pair of honors, receiving the Roy Young Toughness award and also the Best Defensive Player award for the second straight season.

Freshman Josh Huestis snagged the Most Improved Player award, while fellow rookies Anthony Brown and Dwight Powell shared the Howie Dallmar Coaches award.

Freshman John Gage was recognized for attaining the team's highest GPA.

The inaugural Sixth Man Club Member of the Year award was presented to Audrey Proulx.

Six statistical awards were handed out representing the following categories: scoring (Jeremy Green - 16.7 points per game), rebounding (Josh Owens - 6.5 per game), three-point field goal percentage (Jeremy Green - 42.9 percent), field goal percentage (Josh Owens - 58.0 percent), assists (Jarrett Mann - 4.2 per game) and free throw percentage (Aaron Bright - 88.9 percent).

Awards were presented by members of the coaching staff and head coach Johnny Dawkins closed the evening by thanking his players, support staff and those in attendance before a video tribute was played. Veteran radio play-by-play announcer John Platz served as the event's emcee.
