STANFORD, Calif. - Sean Kemper, a 6-foot-7 middle blocker from Torrey Pines High School in Encinitas, Calif., has signed a letter of intent with Stanford men's volleyball, completing a three-player recruiting class for next fall.
Kemper was named to the All-America team at the U.S. Junior Boys' National Championships last summer after his Seaside club captured the 17-and-under open title.
"Sean will add tremendous depth to our talented group of middle blockers," Stanford coach John Kosty said. "He is a natural middle blocker and we are excited about Sean joining our team next season."
Kemper had 22 kills and 12 blocks in a match Tuesday for Torrey Pines, the school that produced current Stanford setter Evan Barry, as well as Cardinal and NFL football great John Lynch.
Kemper, a first-team Avocado League selection last year, also plays for San Diego Shorebreak Volleyball Club. He adds to a recruiting class that includes middle blockers Matt Aiello (Bellarmine College Prep) of San Jose, Calif., and Spencer Haly (Corona del Mar HS) of Newport Beach, Calif.
