Stanford Headed to Central Regional at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course

STANFORD, Calif. - The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee has announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regionals and Stanford has been placed in the Central Regional, which will be contested at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., May 5-7.

Stanford, seeded eighth in the 24-team Central Regional, will be joined by (in order of seeding) UCLA, Duke, LSU, Arkansas, Wake Forest, Texas, Tulane, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Kent State, Tennessee-Chattanooga, Northwestern, Minnesota, UNLV, Oklahoma State, North Texas, Wisconsin, East Carolina, Michigan, Illinois, Moorehead State, Illinois State and Butler.

The top eight teams and two individuals from each regional will advance to the championship finals which will be held on May 18-21 at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.

The Warren Course was the site of last year's U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, where Kristina Wong fired rounds of 71 and 72 to finish sixth in the stroke play portion of the event. She was eliminated in the first round of match play.

Stanford, which is coming off a fifth place finish at the Pac-10 Championships, is ranked 24th nationally by Golfstat and 28th by Golfweek.

The Cardinal finished sixth in last year's NCAA West Regional to earn a trip to the championship finals in Wilmington, N.C.
