STANFORD, Calif. - The two-time defending Pac-10 champion Stanford women's soccer team begins its spring season on April 16 at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

The Cardinal has solidified only the first two matches of its five-event spring season, with both at home. Besides the Pacific match (1 p.m.) at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium, Stanford will play University of San Francisco on April 28 at 5 p.m. on the practice field adjacent to the stadium. Admission is free.

Stanford is coming off its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA College Cup final. The Cardinal has lost Christen Press, the 2010 Hermann Trophy winner, to graduation, but returns four All-Americans: Mariah Nogueira, Teresa Noyola, Lindsay Taylor, Courtney Verloo.

In addition, versatile Camille Levin and goalkeeper Emily Oliver were NCAA All-Tournament selections and return as well.

Though the regular-season schedule has not yet been officially released, there are a couple of matches to be aware of. Stanford opens on August 19 against visiting Penn State at 7 p.m.

Also, on Sept. 9, Stanford plays host to Notre Dame in a rematch of last season's national championship final. The 7:30 p.m. match is a part of a doubleheader that begins with the Stanford women's volleyball home match against defending NCAA champion Penn State at 5:30 p.m. at Maples Pavilion.
