Virginia Head Coach Brian Boland
"I was first and foremost impressed by our doubles play. The guys really came out and looked ready to play from the get-go. I think that helped us with our momentum going into the singles. I give Illinois a lot of credit, they are an excellent team. We played them three times this year and it has never been easy. They fought hard and left it on the court and I was really proud of our guys from one to six. It was a good effort on our part. It is a good start to the tournament after a long day. We did not get on until three hours after our scheduled starting time, but that is just part of the adversity you have to deal with so I am proud of our guys. We started well and kept that momentum and didn't take it for granted after winning the doubles in such convincing fashion."

Illinois Head Coach Brad Dancer
"We got thoroughly whooped today. They came out and beat us in all aspects of the match in doubles. They served better than us, volleyed better than us and returned better than us. In the singles, the same thing. They just executed better than us and probably played smarter than us. Hats off to them, they played a great match."
