EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 10 Stanford softball team dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 12 Oregon, Saturday, at Howe Field in Eugene, Ore. The Cardinal now stands at 37-12 overall and 9-8 in the Pac-10, while the Ducks improve to 36-13 and 8-9 in the conference.

Juniors Ashley Hansen and Sarah Hassman each registered two hits for the Cardinal, while sophomore Alix Van Zandt recorded the team's fifth hit of the game.

Senior pitcher Ashley Chinn took the loss, falling to 16-4 overall. She allowed two runs on seven hits, while posting three strikeouts. Oregon's Jessica Moore earned the win, improving to 19-8 on the year.

Oregon captured an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Shortstop Kelsey Chambers hit a solo home run to left field in her first at-bat.

The Ducks increased their lead to 2-0 with another run in the third. Second baseman Kaylan Howard doubled to lead off the inning. She advanced to third on a ground out by Monique Fuiava and then scored on a single through the left side by left fielder Kaitlin Vitek.

Stanford failed to produce a run for just the fourth time this season. The loss snaps a 10-game winning streak for the Cardinal over the Ducks.

Stanford and Oregon wrap-up the three-game series, Sunday, May 8. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. from Howe Field.
