2011 Women's Lacrosse NCAA Bracket 
Indianapolis - After earning the NCAA automatic bid out of the MPSF, Stanford has been chosen to travel to Gainesville, Fla., to take on the fourth-seeded Gators of Florida. Despite the No. 6 national ranking, the Cardinal will have to go on the road as it attempts to advance through the NCAA tournament and make the school's first-ever Final 4.
"I am a little disappointed that we aren't hosting," said head coach Amy Bokker. "Overall, we are just excited to be in the tournament though and I think that we got a good draw. We know that we are going to have to beat good teams to get to where we want to go."
Stanford will play in the NCAA tournament for the third time. The Cardinal is 0-2 in school history in the NCAA tournament, including last year when it lost 9-8 to James Madison in the first round. This year's first round game will be Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m., PT.
The Cardinal (16-2) will face Florida (15-3) for the first time in school history. The Gators (15-3) advanced to the championship game of the American Lacrosse Conference where they lost to Northwestern. Florida earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament, which is its first in program history.
"We know that Florida is a dynamic offensive team," said Bokker. "They have been on TV a few times this year so I have had a chance to watch them play. They seem to have a good mix of girls that have played together for a while. I think our depth in the midfield will bode well to matchup with them and deal with the hot weather in Florida."
The Cardinal and the Gators are two of the highest scoring offenses in the nation. Stanford is the No. 2 scoring offense, averaging 16.21 goals per game. Florida is the 14th-ranked offense, averaging 13.72 goals per game.
Sarah Flynn leads Stanford with 48 goals, while MPSF Player of the Year Leslie Foard has 41 goals and 19 assists. Florida is led by Kitty Cullen who has 71 goals, good for second in the nation.
The winner of the game between Stanford and Florida will take on the winner of Duke and Pennsylvania. The fifth-seeded Blue Devils will take on the Quakers with first draw one after the Stanford game gets underway.
