TEMPE, Ariz. - Stanford shot a final round 308 to finish 11th at the PING/ASU Invitational which was held at the Karsten Course in Tempe, Ariz., while sophomore Marissa Mar tied for third to net her best finish as a collegian.
The Cardinal totaled 890 for the 54 hole event to finish 43 strokes behind first place UCLA, which won the event for the third straight year with a score of 857 (+5).
After playing the first round at even par 284, the Cardinal was 38-over for the final two rounds to slip out of title contention.
Arizona State finished second at 869 (+17), followed by Texas A&M (874; +22) and TCU (874; +27). USC and UC Davis tied for fifth at 881 (+29).
Sophomore Marissa Mar and junior Sally Watson both finished in the top-10, with Mar earning a share of third place while Watson tied for seventh.
Mar made a key birdie on the par-5 17th hole to shoot a final round 73. Her 54-hole score of 214 (+1) left her two strokes behind co-medalists Ani Gulugian of UCLA and Demi Runnas of UC Davis, who finished at 212 (-1).
Watson, who entered the final round in third place, shot a 76 on Sunday to finish at 215 (+2) to earn her third straight top-10 finish and fourth of the season.
Freshman Mariko Tumangan tied for 51st at 227 (+14) after shooting a final round 81.
Junior Kristina Wong tied for 75th at 234 (+21) after closing with a 78.
Senior Sydney Burlison, playing as an individual, tied for 87th at 240 after posting and 82 on Sunday.
Senior Lila Barton finished 90th at 247 after carding a final round 85.
