Watson Leads Charge on Second Day of Pac-12 Championships

PULLMAN, Wash. -- - Stanford took advantage of more favorable scoring conditions to card an even par 288 at the Pac-12 Championships being held at the Palouse Ridge Country Club in Pullman, Wash.

After shooting a 320 (+32) in cold and windy weather on Friday, Stanford's second round score of 288 tied for the second lowest round of the day, moving the Cardinal up three spots on the leaderboard into eighth place at 608.

Stanford is still 19 strokes behind tournament leader California, as the Golden Bears wrestled the lead away from Arizona State with a five-under 283 on Saturday.

Colorado is three strokes behind Cal at 592, followed by UCLA (594) and USC (595).

Daniela Holmqvist of Cal and Arizona State's Giulia Molinaro share the second round lead at 145 (+1).

Mariko Tumangan is tied for 17th place at 150 (+6) after the freshman carded an even par 72 on Saturday, posting two birdies to offset two bogeys.

However, Sally Watson made the biggest move of the day, turning in a second round 69 on the heels of an opening round 83. Starting on hole No. 10, Watson birdied her second hole of the day, the par-3 11th. After nine straight pars, Watson birdied three of her next four holes to go to four-under on the day. She made her only bogey on the par-4 8th, her 17th hole of the day.

Sydney Burlison is tied for 34th place at 153 (+9) after shooting a second round 74. She was four-over on her card through nine holes before picking up late birdies on her 16th and 18th holes of the day.

Kristina Wong is tied for 34th at 153 (+9) after a second round 73 while Marissa Mar is tied for 51st after a second round 78 left her at 161 for the tournament.

The Pac-12 Championships conclude on Sunday at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
