STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 19 Stanford softball team (32-16) plays host to Santa Clara, Tuesday, May 1 in its final non-conference game of the regular season. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. from Smith Family Stadium.
After last week's game against UC Davis was called in the bottom of the fourth inning because of rain, Stanford's most recent competition came in a loss on Apr. 22 at Arizona State. The Cardinal, which is 26-4 against non-league opponents, is looking to snap a four-game skid.
Rookie Hanna Winter continues to lead the Pac-12 with 75 hits this season. She is two hits away from breaking into the Stanford single season top-10. Ashley Hansen set a school record with 95 hits in 2011.
Junior Jenna Rich's 57 RBI this season are tied for the second-most in a single season. She needs just 10 more to break the school record for RBI in a season.
Santa Clara (11-42) split two double-headers last weekend against CSU Bakersfield. Junior Alyssa Jepsen leads the team with 54 hits and a .355 batting average. Sophomore Stephanie Fisher has chipped in with 12 doubles on the year, while senior Briana Knight paces the squad with 37 RBI.
Tuesday marks the second meeting of the season between the two squads. The Cardinal came out on top, 9-2, on Mar. 28.
