STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's rowers Daphne Martschenko and Kristy Wentzel were selected to the Division I West All-Region First and Second Team, respectively, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced Tuesday.

Martshcenko was also one of seven Cardinal rowers honored as a CRCA Scholar-Athlete. Christina Bax, Sarah Bolmer, Alison Fauci, Claire Grover, Marielle Higgins and Jenna Levy joined Martschenko on that list.

The Stanford women will compete at the NCAA Championships this weekend (May 25-27) on the waters of Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. The Cardinal will aim for its second team NCAA title.

Martschenko and Wentzel each earned the first All-Region honor of their careers Tuesday. Both are part of Stanford's I Eight boat that will aim for its second individual NCAA title this weekend.

Criteria for the CRCA Scholar-Athlete award include maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50, being in at least her second year of eligibility at the University and participating in at least 75 percent of her team's races.

Bolmer and Grover earned their second straight Scholar-Athlete recognition with Tuesday's announcement, while for Higgins it marked a third straight selection.
