STANFORD, Calif.-- Stanford sailors Oliver Toole and Haley Kirk were named national sailors of the week after they sailed their way to the coed Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference championship last weekend.
The duo won five out of six races, earning the program its sixth conference title of the 2011-12 season. The accomplishment was a league first for the Cardinal, who are ranked in the national top-six in team, coed and women's racing.
Toole, a sophomore skipper, and Kirk, a freshman member of the crew, were each named all-conference earlier this week.
The Cardinal duo are next in action May 12 and 13 in Annapolis, for the coed national semifinals. The national championships are at the end of the month just outside of Austin, Texas.
