STANFORD, Calif. - The regional fields for the NCAA Division I Championships were announced this evening and Stanford is seeded second behind Pac-12 champion California at the Stanford Regional, slated for May 17-19 at Stanford Golf Course.
San Diego State is seeded third while Central Florida and LSU round out the top five seeds. Rounding out the 13-team regional field is (in order of seeding) Alabama-Birmingham, Tennessee, Oregon State, Southeast Louisiana, San Francisco, San Jose State and UC Davis.
Ten individual competitors, including Zac Blair and Justin Keiley of BYU, Justin Shinn and Zachary Fullerton of New Mexico State, Josh Anderson and Johnny MacArthur of Pepperdine, Alex Edfort of Pacific, Allan Jun of UC Irvine, Mason Carper of Utah Valley State and Jarred Bossio of Idaho are also part of the field.
Auburn (Greensboro Regional), Alabama (Athens), UCLA (Bowling Green), USC (Ann Arbor) and Texas (Norman) also earned top seeds in the 81-team field.
The low five teams and low individual competitors from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, set for May 29-June 3 at Riviera Golf Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Stanford will be looking to return to the NCAA Championships after the Cardinal finished sixth at the Central Regional in South Bend, Ind. last year.
Stanford is coming off a sixth place finish at the Pac-12 Championships held at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. California claimed the team title with a playoff victory over Oregon while Stanford's Andrew Yun earned medalist honors.
