THE STADIUM...

Home to Stanford Football since 1921, the Cardinal play all of their home games at Stanford Stadium. Stanford Stadium underwent a $100 million renovation after the 2005 season and was unveiled in an unprecendented 42 weeks, in time to host the Cardinal's 2006 home opener versus Navy on September 16.

The 50,000-seat stadium is surrounded by groves of eucalyptus and oak trees and is widely consdiered one of the premier, on-campus college football stadiums in the country.
The state-of-the-art Stanford Stadium includes:

  • Two-tiered bowl with 50,000 stadium seats with backs
  • New and expadned Skybox with seven luxury suites and 400 Director's Level seats
  • 16,510 square feet of private meeting room space
  • A distributed sound system and two high-resolution video scoreboards
  • 200 concession points of sale
  • Closed circuit televisions at all concession stands
  • On-site stadium merchandise shop
  • Natural turf playing field

The original facility enjoyed a long and storied history, which includes hosting Herbert Hoover's presidential acceptance speech in 1928, the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in 1960, the USA-USSR track meet in 1962, Olympic soccer matches in 1984, Super Bowl XIX in 1985, men's World Cup Soccer in 1994, and women's World Cup Soccer in 1999.
