2010 NCAA Grant

Stanford women's basketball has been awarded a women's basketball grant by the NCAA, as part of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Grant Program to increase awareness, exposure and attendance of women's basketball.

Stanford was one of 12 Division I schools and conferences to receive the grant. A total of 88 NCAA member schools and
conferences were in the running for the grants.

Program Overview

The interactive writing program will connect Stanford's Women's Basketball alumni as role models and inspirations to the children of the Bay Area Community and allow local third through fifth graders to become characters in Stanford-branded workbooks. Participants will use their creative writing skills to personalize these unfinished stories by writing the beginning, middle, or ending of the book.

Upon the completion of each workbook, students will submit their stories to their teachers to select a winner. All participants will be given a voucher to attend a future Stanford Women's Basketball game, at which the winners will be acknowledged.

Participation

Teachers and administrators can register classes in grades 3-5 online here or through the Stanford Women?™s Basketball office to either receive print workbooks or participate online.

Students in non-participating schools can join the program through the Stanford Women?™s Basketball office to either receive print workbooks or to participate online.
