Mandy Robinson begins her second year as an assistant coach with the field hockey program.
"Mandy has a genuine passion for coaching," said Cardinal head coach Lesley Irvine. "She had an impressive career at an outstanding program and has a lot to teach. We are excited she will be a part of our program."
Robinson enjoyed a successful playing career at Penn State from 1996-2000. During her senior season in 2000, Robinson was named a third team All-American, second team All-Big Ten, and South Jersey Collegiate Defensive Player of the Year. A center back for the Nittany Lions, she also served as the team captain in 1999 and 2000.
In 1998, Robinson started all 23 games for a Penn State defense that helped goalkeeper Jamie Smith record seven shutouts. The Nittany Lions blanked three nationally-ranked opponents including Massachusetts in the NCAA first round. Robinson was named to the Big Ten's All-Academic team.
While at Penn State, Robinson was a member of three Big Ten championship squads (1996-98) and four NCAA Tournament teams.
Robinson graduated with a B.S. Degree in Kinesiology in 2001. She has also worked in Pharmaceutical Sales.
At Haddonfield Memorial High School in New Jersey, Robinson anchored a defense in her senior season that recorded 13 shutouts. She also scored seven goals in her last season.
Her coach, Judy Morgan, described her as "the best defensive player I ever coached." Robinson gained numerous honors including first team All-Conference, first team All-Group Two, first team All-South Jersey, and first team All-State. She played in the Garden States Games and the 1995 and 1996 National Futures Tournaments. Robinson was also a standout softball player (catcher, centerfielder).
