Cardinal Receive Academic All-America Honors

Stanford Places Two on the First Team

Stanford University men's soccer players Dan Wytock and Eric Vandevelde werenamed first team Academic All-Americans by the National Soccer CoachesAssociation of America (NSCAA).

Wytock, a senior defender from San Jose, Calif. (Bellarmine Prep),boasts a cumulative 3.42 GPA while majoring in computer science. Wytock, the1997 team co-captain, started all 20 games for the Cardinal, which advanced tothe NCAA Tournament and finished the season ranked 15th in the nation. Vandevelde, a junior midfielder from La Canada, Calif. (Loyola HS), boasts acumulative 3.6, also majoring in computer science. Vandevelde started in 19games for the Cardinal and ranked fourth on the squad with nine points on threegoals and three assists.
