Jamie Clark Named Second Team All-American
Junior Defender Caps Great Season With High Honor
Stanford University men's soccer player Jamie Clark was named a second team All-American for his outstanding play in the Cardinal backfield. The three All-America teams are announced each year in conjunction with the men's Final Four.
Clark, a junior defender from Hanover, New Hampshire, led the Stanford defense which ranked among the nation's best in 1997, giving up just 14 goals (0.66 GAA) in 20 games. The Cardinal finished the season ranked 15th in the nation and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1992.
The All-America selection capped a highly decorated season for Clark, who also received first team Far West Region All-America and MPSF Mountain Division All-Federation Team honors. In addition, he was twice selected to Soccer America's Team-of-the-Week and once named the MPSF Player-of-the-Week, chosen as the Offensive MVP of the Saint Mary's "Fall Soccer Classic" and named to the all-tournament teams of the Cal-adidas/Foot Locker Legacy Classic and the Stanford-Nike Invitational.
