Stanford Concludes Preseason with Victory

Stanford, CA - The Stanford University men's soccer team, in its finaltune-up for the regular season, defeated visiting Westmont College 2-1 at NewMaloney Field.

Stanford freshman forward Corey Woolfolk opened the scoring with the lone goalof the first half, finding the back of the net at 36:10. The Cardinal defenselimited the Warriors to just two shots on goal in the half. Sophomoremidfielder T. K. Inbody, assisted by junior forward Adam Siegman, put theCardinal up 2-0 with a goal midway through the second half. Westmont respondedthree minutes later on a penalty kick by senior midfielder Ben Hook to draw theWarriors within one, but would be unable to get another shot on goal.

Stanford will open the regular season on Tuesday, September 2, when they travelto area rival San Jose State.
