Cougars Unable to Keep Up With No. 3 Cardinal, 82-45
STANFORD, Calif. -- Kate Starbird scored 19 points and Olympia Scott had 14 and 11rebounds to lead third-ranked Stanford to an 82-45 Pac-10Conference victory over Washington State.
Christina Batastini added 13 points and Chandra Benton pulleddown 10 rebounds for Stanford (26-1, 14-0 Pac-10), which held a32-16 halftime lead. The Cardinal shot nearly 53 percent fromthe field in the second half, outscoring Washington State overthe final 20 minutes, 50-29.
Amy Kunze and Joanna Smith paced a weak Cougar attack with eightpoints apiece. Washington State (9-14, 2-11) was outrebounded,46-33, and shot just 26 percent from the field (14-for-54).
