Steve Dils was Stanford’s starting quarterback under Bill Walsh in 1978. He led the Cardinal to a 25-22 victory over Georgia in the 1978 Bluebonnet Bowl and was named the game’s offensive MVP. In 1978 he was awarded the Sammy Baugh Trophy as the top quarterback in college football and set seven Pac-10 records and tying another. Dils was drafted in the fourth round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings and played ten seasons in the NFL before retiring in 1989.
