STANFORD, Calif. -Each week GoStanford.com has featured a Q&A with a different member of the 2013 Stanford softball team. In the final week of the series, fans will get two! First up, sophomore Alyssa Lombardo.
Nickname: Bardo
How old were you when you first started playing softball? 7 years old
If you could have one superpower what would it be? The power to have any superpower I want or need at the moment, that way I don’t have to choose just one! But if I actually have to choose... Teleportation! I could travel home whenever I wanted.
Besides softball, do you have any unique talents? I am a junior black belt in karate.
If you could meet any celebrity who would it be? I honestly have no desire to meet any celebrity.
Do you have any pregame superstitions or rituals? I always wear a bow in my hair.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? Italy without a doubt! Being Italian-American it would be great to experience where my ancestors came from. Plus the scenery and food are AMAZING!!!
If you won the lottery what is the first thing you would buy? A piece of property in the mountains somewhere by a huge lake where I would design my own cabin house. I would also buy a rocking chair for my front porch and a rowboat for out on the lake.
What is your proudest sports moment? Getting into Stanford.
If you could attend one professional sporting event what would it be? A Game 7 of the MLB World Series (if the Yankees are playing) and if not, then most definitely Olympic Track and Field.
Favorite candy? Anything sour! Specifically sour belts!
What is your favorite thing about being a Stanford student-athlete? Spending quality time with my awesome teammates and friends while being able to compete at the highest level both in the classroom and out on the field... and Nike Christmas!!
What is your dream job? One that feels nothing like a job at all.
Who is your role model? I like to be my own person and therefore don’t really have a “role model.” However, I do owe a lot of who I am to my loving family.
What is one material thing you could not live without? My iPhone for sure!!
What song do you always get stuck in your head? It is literally constantly changing from moment to moment. However, Danza Kuduro by Don Omar is for sure high on my list.
What TV show would you want to be on/a part of? Any show on the Travel Channel so I could get the benefits of traveling to amazing places and also eating amazing foods!
Favorite music/artist? I am a huge classic rock fan, with Journey being my all-time favorite. But, in general, I listen to a really wide variety of music from classical to hip-hop/rap.
Favorite quote? Ugghhh, there are just so many good ones! I am literally obsessed with quotes. But if I must choose I’d have to say: ”IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE HARD. IF IT WASN’T HARD, EVERYONE WOULD BE DOING IT. IT IS THE HARD THAT MAKES IT GREAT.” ~Tom Hanks in A League Of Their Own
Biggest pet peeve? People who complain just for the sake of complaining. Although, does drama/over exaggerating count as a pet peeve?
Who on the team does the best Coach Rittman impersonation? Brandon Marcello our Sports Performance coach.
Which of your teammates is the best dancer? Hmmm, this is a really tough question. Tylyn, Hanna, Nyree, and Boo (Cassandra Roulund) all have their own talented, crazy, and unique styles and I love them all.

Ice cream or frozen yogurt? Ice cream for sure
Coke or Pepsi? Neither. I don’t like soda.
Sunrise or sunset? A West Coast sunset over the Pacific Ocean
Dogs or cats? Dogs all the way! Cats scare me and I don’t trust them.
Beach or mountains? Mountains... by a huge lake perfect for a nice rowboat ride.
Walk or bike? WALKING! I can walk for miles.
Books or movies? Movies in the comfort of my own home or suite here at school and always with popcorn if possible.
Real mayo or Miracle Whip? Gross.
Cheez-its or pretzels? Goldfish crackers
Hot dog or hamburger? Hamburger. An In-n-Out Animal burger with cheese to be exact. And a side of Animal fries of course!
NorCal or SoCal? NorCal all the way
Ski or snowboard? I have no desire to do either. I would probably end up breaking something or running into a tree.
Ryan Gosling or Channing Tatum? Ugh, why do I have to choose?! ...Ryan
Grey’s Anatomy or House? I don’t watch either. But if Everybody Loves Raymond or Seinfeld was a choice...

Facebook or Twitter? Brace yourselves... I don’t have or follow either.
Karaoke or dancing? Dancing! I cannot sing to save my life.
Shorts or pants? Pants. They have to be sweat pants or yoga pants though.
Pearls or diamonds? I always wear one set of pearl earrings and one set of diamond earrings.
Sneakers or flip flops? Combat boots!
Chocolate or vanilla? Vanilla. Specifically vanilla peanut butter cookie from The Cup back home.
Coffee or Tea? Eh, neither. Hot chocolate!
Phone call or Skype/Facetime? Google chat or Skpe/Facetime
