WALNUT, Calif. – Stanford freshman Dylan Duvio cleared a collegiate outdoor season best in the men’s pole vault at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday at Mt. San Antonio College.
Duvio reached 16-8 ¾ (5.10 meters) on his opening height against a strong Open-A field, but was unsuccessful at 17-2 ¾ and finished ninth. Duvio’s previous best this outdoor season was 16-6 ¾, from the Outdoor Opener in Berkeley on March 8.
Stanford senior Ellie McCardwell also finished ninth in the open division, clearing 12-1 ½ on the first try at her opening height, but was unsuccessful at 12-7 ½.
Duvio and McCardwell are the only Stanford competitors at the three-day meet, though volunteer assistant Marcus Robinson will compete in the invitational elite triple jump Saturday.
Next weekend, Stanford spreads out to three meets: the Penn Relays, Cal’s Brutus Hamilton Invitational, and the UC San Diego Triton Invitational.
