STANFORD, Calif. –Stanford forward Jordan Morris received his fourth call-up to the U.S. Men’s National Team today when head coach Jurgen Klinsmann announced the 22-player roster for the 64th edition of the USA-Mexico rivalry in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, April 15. The battle between CONCACAF heavyweights starts in the Alamodome at 5:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network.
On March 31, Morris made his second appearance with the Senior Team when he came on in the 89th minute against 12th-ranked Switzerland at Stadion Letzigrund in Zurich. Last November, he became the first active collegian since 1995 to receive a cap for the USMNT when he came on in the 76th minute in a friendly against Ireland in Dublin. An earlier call up to the national team camp for its Sept. 3 friendly against the Czech Republic in Prague made him the first current collegian to join the USMNT in 15 years.

Late last month, Morris was among 18 players called to Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina by U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team head coach Andi Herzog. That squad met for first training camp of 2015 as it began qualifying preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The Stanford sophomore scored the opening goal in the U-23 MNT’s 5-2 win against Bosnia-Herzegovina on March 27 before he was elevated to the USMNT for the aforementioned match with Switzerland.
A 2014 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and NSCAA/Continental Tire First Team All-American, Morris started all 15 games in which he played last season for Stanford tallying four goals, 14 points and a team-high six assists.
He’s one of many key returning pieces for the reigning Pac-12 Champions. In 2015 the Cardinal also welcomes back fellow NSCAA/Continental Tire First Team All-American Brandon Vincent. That duo is joined by two of the country’s best rising sophomores in Corey Baird and Tomas Hilliard-Arce. Both made Soccer America All-Freshman squads in 2014, Baird was on the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Far West Region Second Team and Hilliard-Arce made that organization’s All-Far West Region Third Team.
In total, six of Stanford’s eight All-Pac-12 selections from a year ago return, including goalkeeper Andrew Epstein, who orchestrated a Cardinal defense which finished 38th in the nation with a 0.85 goals against average. Epstein’s 0.857 individual goals against average led the conference, was 43rd in the country and seventh in Stanford single-season history.
Also back is redshirt senior Eric Verso, who was second on last season’s squad in both goals (5) and assists (5) and tops in points (15). Those returners will be joined by a recruiting class ranked 11th in the country by College Soccer News and 12th by Top Drawer Soccer.
Coming off a 3-0 result at Cal Poly in its first spring tune-up yesterday evening, Stanford’s home spring slate starts against Santa Clara on Saturday, April 18 at 4 p.m. On April 25, CSUN (1 p.m.) and Sonoma State (3 p.m.) come to The Farm while UC Davis is in town on Sunday, May 3 at 7 p.m.
