STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford’s Adrienne Anderson and Allie DaCar earned player of the week honors from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for their performances during the Cardinal’s big weekend victories over San Diego State and USC.
Anderson, a junior, was named Defensive Player of the Week and freshman goalie DaCar was named Rookie Player of the Week.
Anderson held MPSF leading scorer Michaela Michael to one goal and no assists during a 12-6 victory over USC in a matchup for first-place Sunday. Anderson also had two groundballs in the game. USC was held to its second-lowest goal total of the season and lowest in MPSF play.
On Friday, Anderson had two groundballs, caused a turnover and had a draw control in a 22-10 victory over San Diego State. She also was instrumental in holding SDSU’s leading goal-scorer Christina Ricciardulli to one goal and no assists.
DaCar made a career-high 14 saves and had five groundballs against USC. The six goals allowed were her fewest in a complete game this season (.700). DaCar repeatedly came up big, especially early on when the Trojans tried to add to their 1-0 lead. She helped limit USC to its second-lowest goal total of the season.
DaCar also had two saves and two groundballs against SDSU. This is her third rookie of the week honor.
