Bashti with U-18 MNT

STANFORD, Calif. – Incoming Stanford freshman Amir Bashti was selected by U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team head coach Javier Perez as part of a 20-player roster that will travel to Medugorje, Bosnia & Herzegovina, for the team’s first training camp of 2015, running from April 22-May 1.

Bashti, a product of San Jose Earthquakes Academy who signed his National Letter of Intent in early February, gives the Cardinal another connection to U.S. Soccer. Current sophomore Jordan Morris, who started and scored for the Senior National Team in its 2-0 victory over Mexico last Wednesday, is currently training with the U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team in Carson, California prior to that squad’s match with Mexico’s U-23s this evening.

During camp, the U-18 MNT will play three friendlies. First, it will match up against Siroki Brijeg on April 25, followed by a contest against Bosnia U-18s on April 28. A second game against Bosnia will take place two days later on April 30.

In December, Bashti participated in the U-18 MNT’s camp in Marbella, Spain, which also included two matches against Germany’s U-18s. He took part in his first U-18 camp in late October.
