STANFORD, Calif. – For the fourth consecutive year, Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football David Shaw will join NFL Networks for its coverage of the NFL Draft.
Shaw will be on the main desk with Rich Eisen, Steve Mariucci and Mike Mayock as the only college football coach covering the first round of the NFL Draft live in primetime at 5 p.m. (PT) on April 30.
First-round coverage of the last year’s event on NFL Network and ESPN drew a combined 32 million viewers, making it the most-viewed first round ever, according to The Nielsen Company. In addition, more than 11 million people saw over seven million tweets about the draft’s first round, up 347 percent from 2013.
Through four seasons as the Cardinal head coach, Shaw holds a remarkable 42-12 (.778) career record and is 28-8 (.778) in Pac-12 Conference play. He notched 30 wins in his first 35 games, third-fastest among active coaches, and was one of only three coaches to lead his team to BCS bowls in his first three years as a head coach.
Shaw’s coaching resume also includes nine years of NFL experience with the Philadelphia Eagles (1997), Oakland Raiders (1998-2001) and Baltimore Ravens (2002-05).
Under Shaw, the Cardinal has produced 13 draft picks, including two first-round selections, from the 2011 season onward. Andrew Luck was the first overall pick of the NFL Draft following the 2011 season.
Stanford has produced 20 NFL Draft first-round selections and has had 251 players drafted by professional football teams since 1936.
