STANFORD, Calif. – No. 2 Stanford will pursue its sixth national title at the NCAA Championships this week in Norman, Oklahoma. The Cardinal claimed NCAA titles in 1992, 1993, 1995, 2009 and 2011.

Stanford (10-3, 6-2 MPSF) begins the competition Thursday at 11 a.m. (PT) in Session I and will compete against No. 3 Penn State, No. 6 Minnesota, No. 7 California, No. 10 Air Force and No. 11 Nebraska.

Stanford has been strong all season, spending every week ranked in the top-four in the country. The Cardinal has broken the 440-point mark in three of its past five meets and has finished first in four of its past five competitions.

Stanford placed second at the MPSF Championships with a 437.150 – the team’s fourth consecutive runner-up finish at the conference competition. Ten Cardinal gymnasts combined for 21 top-10 finishes.

Cardinal Update
 Stanford scored 437.150 at the MPSF Championships to claim its fourth consecutive second-place finish.

 The Cardinal registered the second-highest score in four-of-six events and 10 Cardinal gymnasts combined for 21 top-10 finishes.

 Akash Modi claimed three event titles, finishing first in the all-around (90.400), parallel bars (15.650) and floor (15.500). He also recorded top-10 finishes on vault (3rd, 15.350), rings (7th, 14.650), high bar (8th, 14.750) and pommel horse (10th, 14.500).

 Modi has earned 20 individual event victories against NCAA teams this season: all-around (5), parallel bars (5), floor (4), pommel horse (3), rings (2) and high bar (1).

 Modi was named the MPSF Gymnast of the Year for the second consecutive season. He also earned his national-best fifth College Gymnastics Association Gymnast of the Week honor.

 Dennis Zaremski had a great showing, registering second-place finishes on parallel bars (15.350) and rings (14.900). He score on parallel bars is a season best.

 Brian Knott led the Cardinal on pommel horse with a 15.050 to place third. He added a sixth-place finish on parallel bars (15.000) and a ninth-place result on high bar (14.700).

 Michael Levy tied for fifth on floor with a season-best 15.350 and produced a 14.650 on rings to tie for seventh.

 Sean Senters placed fourth on vault with a 15.200 and had a nice showing on floor with a 14.950.
