STANFORD, Calif. - Maverick McNealy has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and announced Thursday by the organization. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
McNealy now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America team ballot.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings.
A finalist for the Hogan Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate golfer, McNealy has collected five victories this season and finished among the top five in eight of 11 tournaments. His most recent win came in record-fashion as he took Pac-12 Conference Championships medalist honors with an 18-under 262, which included a Palouse Ridge Golf Club record 61 in the final round. His final four-round score of 262 is a Pac-12 Championship record.
Currently ranked No. 1 in the latest Golfstat and Golfweek individual rankings, McNealy carries a program-best 68.68 stroke average.
