STANFORD, Calif. -- The Stanford baseball team looks for revenge Tuesday evening when local rival Santa Clara visits Klein Field at Sunken Diamond for a nonconference tilt. The Broncos nipped the Cardinal, 6-5, in 10 innings April 14 in Santa Clara.
Stanford (20-25, 6-15 Pac-12) is entering the stretch run of its 2015 season with 11 games remaining on the schedule. The Cardinal, which took one of three at Oregon last weekend, finishes its Pac-12 slate with series against USC, Oregon State and Washington State.
Only five home games remain including Tuesday night. Fireworks Night (May 15) and Senior Day (May 17) highlight the upcoming weeks.
Santa Clara (20-26, 8-13 WCC) is coming off back-to-back wins at Saint Mary’s last weekend. Jose Vizcaino Jr. went 7 for 9 with two doubles, a triple and five RBI over the last two games to earn WCC Player of the Week honors. The dangerous hitter and son of a former Major Leaguer is leading the team with a .346 average, seven homers and 31 RBI.
Stanford travels to nationally-ranked USC this weekend for three games Friday-Sunday. All three will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
