Matthew Neu began coaching Stanford fencing in the 2022-23 season. After competing in epee for more than 20 years, Neu gained six years of coaching experience before joining the Stanford program.
In 2023, Stanford repeated as Mountain Pacific Sports Federation team champion, won four MPSF individual titles, three NCAA West Regional crowns and placed 13th at the NCAA Championships. Stanford fencers were a combined 691-526 (.568) in individual bouts.
When not coaching, Neu is a medical genetics/pediatrics resident at Stanford.
