Michael Barminski is in his third season as an assistant coach at Stanford.

Stanford was one of the most improved teams in the country in 2022, winning 10 games and reaching the championship game of the America East Tournament. The Cardinal tallied three wins over ranked opponents, with Haley Mossmer leading the team with 11 goals and 23 points. Four players earned All-America East honors, including a first team nod for Megan Frost and a second team selection for Cara Sambeth. Stanford led the America East in goals-against average.

The Cardinal played a full season with no goalkeeper and just 13 players in 2021 but still found a way to win games and find success throughout the campaign. Stanford continued its stretch of never missing an America East conference tournament, with Haley Mossmer led the offense with eight goals and 17 points, while Lynn Vanderstichele scored four times. Cara Sambeth had nine defensive saves, which ranked second in the country and led the nation on a per-game basis, and added nine more as an emergency goalkeeper late in the season. Sambeth and Megan Frost earned all-conference accolades.

Barminski has been a national team player for the United States since 2010, while serving as a captain since 2017, and has made 93 appearances for the United States. He has also coached the junior men’s national team for the United States and the Ventura County Red Devils since 2017, and the Ventura County Roadrunners since 2016.

Barminski has also coached with USA Futures and Field Hockey Federation, while serving on the board of USA Field Hockey as an athlete representative since 2019.

A 2016 graduate of UC San Diego, Barminski later received his Master’s in Business Administration from DeVry.
