  • Earned first-team All-America honors -- his fourth first-team selection -- by placing sixth in the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships.
  • Scored 5,970 points, a school record and personal best.
  • It was the highest sixth-place score in NCAA heptathlon history.
  • Was 11th before setting a personal best for multis of 17-7 (5.36m) in the pole vault to win that part of the competition.
  • Has broken Stanford multi-event records six times -- four times in the decathlon, twice in the heptathlon.
  • Placed second at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational heptathlon with 5,828 points.
  • Set a personal record in the pole vault at the UW Indoor Preview of 17-8 1/2 (5.40m).

  • First-team All-America in the decathlon, scoring a school-record 8,032 points to place fifth at NCAA's.
  • It was the highest fifth-place NCAA score in history.
  • Set five personal records in the meet.
  • It was the fourth time Williams had broken the Stanford decathlon record and second time during the season.
  • At age 20, was more than two months younger than world-record holder and reigning Olympic champion Ashton Eaton was when they first broke the 8,000-point barrier.
  • Through the NCAA Championships, Williams set lifetime bests in every multi-event competition he had competed in since being coached by Stanford's Michael Eskind -- 12 in all.
  • Ran leadoff for the Pac-12 4x400 relay champion Cardinal.
  • The conference victory was the first for a Stanford men's 4x400 or mile relay team since 1954.
  • Led off Stanford's school-record 4x400 of 3:05.59, running a 47.0 split at the Michael Johnson Invitational.
  • The school 4x400 record had stood since 1978, on a team anchored by James Lofton.
  • His 13.88 to win the Payton Jordan Invitational was the second-fastest 110 high hurdles time in Stanford history.
  • Competed in the Olympic Trials, where he scored a first-day personal record of 4,144 points.

  • Pole vaulted in three other meets, twice setting PBs.
  • His best of 17-3 1/2 placed him seventh in the pole vault at the Don Kirby Elite.
  • Was ninth in the pole vault (16-10) at the MPSF Championships.
  • Ran on his first Stanford relay, taking the second leg in the Cardinal's sixth-place 4x400 at the MPSF Championships.

As a Freshman (2015):
Outdoors

  • Broke the American junior decathlon record, scoring a meet-record 8,037 points to win the gold medal at the Pan Am Junior Track and Field Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
  • Needed at least 4:32.00 in the final event, the 1,500 meters, to break the 8,018 mark for those 19 and under set by Gunnar Nixon in 2012. Williams ran a personal-record 4:29.20.
  • The 8,037 total does not count as a Stanford record (which is 7,806) because, under junior rules, a lighter discus and shot and lower high hurdles were used than in collegiate competition.
  • Athlete of the Week by USA Track and Field (Aug. 5) for his performances at Pan Ams.
  • Fourth in the decathlon at the NCAA outdoor championships, breaking his own school record with 7,806 points.
  • That was the highest NCAA finish ever for a Stanford decathlete.
  • The total moved him to No. 2 on the all-time United States junior list (19 and under) for using senior-level implements and high-hurdle heighth.
  • Broke Stanford's oldest record -- Bob Mathias' 1952 Olympic-winning effort of 7,592 points (converted to reflect currect scoring tables) -- while placing second at the Pac-12 Championships with 7,679 points.
  • Repeated as U.S. junior champion by scoring 8,001 points at the U.S. Junior Championships.
  • The total (using junior-level implements and high-hurdle height) was 17 points off the American junior record and placed him No. 3 all-time on the U.S. junior list.
  • In his collegiate outdoor debut, scored 7,518 points to place second overall and first among collegians, at the Texas Relays.
  • Total of 7,518 placed him third all-time at Stanford and came within 74 points of Bob Mathias' 1952 school-record of 7,592c.
  • The score was a Stanford freshman record and placed him No. 7 on the all-time U.S. junior list.
  • Stanford Athletic Board Block ‘S’ Outstanding Male Freshman.

Indoors

  • Placed second in the seven-event heptathlon at the MPSF Championships, with a score of 5,539 points, only four shy of first.
  • Total made him No. 2 in Stanford history.
  • Made collegiate debut at the UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 17, placing 10th in the 60 hurdles (8.33), sixth in the pole vault (season best 16-2 3/4), and second in the 4x400 (3:16.52).

International/National:

  • Captured third at the 2019 U.S. Championships, scoring a PB 8,188 points.
  • Captured third at the 2018 U.S. Championships, his highest national finish, scoring 7,878 points.
  • In his first senior competition in a United States singlet, Williams placed second at the 2016 Thorpe Cup, a multi-event dual between the U.S. and Germany, at University of Arkansas.
  • Scored 7,849 points, finishing just 27 points from victory.
  • Was in sixth place at the 2016 Olympic Trials with 5,753 points after seven events, and seven points behind his school-record pace, when he failed to clear his first height, of 15-7.
  • Continued on and finished 15th with 6,951 points.
  • Won the 2015 Pan Am Junior Championships decathlon in Edmonton, setting a U.S. junior record of 8,037 points.
  • Placed sixth in the decathlon at the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene, scoring a personal best 7,760 points.

High School:

  • In scoring 7,760 at the 2014 world juniors, he broke the national high school record of 7,748 by Gunnar Nixon of Santa Fe (Edmond, Okla.) in 2011.
  • It made him equal to the fourth-highest ever among U.S. junior men (19 and younger).
  • He also became the No. 3 U.S. junior performer all-time.
  • Set six personal bests in the competiton, including the final two events, helping him move up from 16th place after three events.
  • Won the 2014 U.S. junior national title with a then-PR of 7,734.
  • At Memphis (Tenn.) University School, he won five state Division II titles in both 2013 and 2014.
  • Won state titles in the decathlon, 110 high hurdles, 300 intermediate hurdles, high jump, and pole vault..
  • Scored 7,181 points in the 2013 runner-up finish in the 17-18 USATF Junior Olympic championships. 
  • Won the prestigious Arcadia Invitational decathlon and New Balance Outdoor Nationals octathlon in 2013.
