  • Mother was a refugee from Palestine to Jordan, and father was a refugee from Palestine to Syria
  • Born in Florida, moved to Jordan at age 3 and returned to Florida in fifth grade
  • Taught English to fourth graders for a month in Ecuador
  • Set up project to teach people how to make pencil cases and collected donations and took them to Guatemala to help with the recovery efforts of Volcano Fuego, and volunteered at an orphanage for two weeks
  • Coached Special Olympics for intellectually challenged adults for two years 
  • Became first coach in Pinellas County to have a team win state title
