Becca Carlton enters her fifth season as an assistant coach with the Stanford Women's Rowing program.

Carlton has helped Stanford produce nine All-America selections in her first four years on The Farm. The Cardinal has competed at the NCAA Championships in all four seasons with Carlton on staff, placing ninth in 2012, 10th in 2013, fourth in 2014 and sixth in 2015. Stanford has also excelled academically with three PAC-12 Scholar Athletes of the Year, Marielle Higgins in 2012, Ali Fauci in 2014 and Naomi Cornman in 2015, 40 All-PAC-12 first and second team selections and 31 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar Athletes.

In 2015, Carleton coached the varsity four to a third place finish in the petite final at the NCAA Championships. The boat, featuring three freshmen, claimed ninth place overall after taking fifth at the Pac-12 Championships.

In the 2014 season, Carlton and fellow assistant coach Nate Rooks received the CRCA West Region Staff of the Year award after leading the Cardinal to a fourth place finish at the NCAA Championships, the first Pac-12 Championship in school history and a sweep of the top three boats at the Big Row. Carlton coached the varsity four that won eight races, a gold medal at the Pac-12 Championships and silver at the NCAA Championships. It was the highest the Stanford four has ever finished at NCAA’s.

She came to Stanford after serving as assistant coach for three years at the University of Minnesota. In 2011, Carlton coached Minnesota's Varsity Four to a fifth place finish at the Big Ten Championships. In 2010, Carlton guided the Gophers' Varsity Four to a seventh-place regional finish and Petite Final win at South/Central Sprints. Her Second Varsity Four went undefeated during the championship season, winning gold at the 2010 Big Ten Championships.

Carlton began her coaching career as the novice coach at Wellesley College in the fall of 2005. As the novice coach, Carlton led the Novice Eight to second-place finishes at the 2006 and 2007 NEWMAC Conference Championships. In 2008, the Novice Eight finished first at the NEWMAC Conference Championship, which helped Wellesley Crew win their first ever NEWMAC Team Championship. She led the 1N8 to a bronze medal at the New England Championships and a silver medal at the ECAC Championships.

Carlton competed collegiately at Lewis & Clark College where she was a four-year varsity rower and a three-year captain. A first-team All-American, Carlton was also named Lewis & Clark's Woman of the Year in 2005. She graduated in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in history. In 2011, Carlton completed her masters degree in kinesiology: sport & exercise science in 2011.
