Rodrigo Baptista enters his first season with Stanford in 2016 as a volunteer assistant coach.

Baptista helped Stanford earn NSCAA Pacific Region Staff of the Year honors in 2016.
 
Baptista brings a wealth of knowledge to the Cardinal with over 10 years of coaching experience. He carries a U.S. Soccer National B License and a NSCAA Premier National Diploma.
 
Baptista makes the trip up the peninsula after working with San Jose State men’s and women’s soccer programs as an assistant coach since 2014. He served as a goalkeeper coach with the men’s team and fulfilled a variety of responsibilities for both programs including recruiting, budgeting, scheduling and serving as the camp director.

Prior to working at San Jose State, Baptista worked as the head coach for the men’s and women’s Mission College soccer programs where he earned California Community College Coast Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2013.
 
Baptista also has professional coaching experience, working as an assistant and goalkeeper coach with the FC Gold Pride of the Women’s Professional League from 2009-11. He helped guide the team to the 2010 WPS championship. During his time with the team, he worked with former Stanford women’s soccer players Kelley O’Hara, Ali Riley, Rachel Buehler and Nicole Barnhart.
 
An active member in the local youth soccer community, Baptista serves as the executive director of the Palo Alto Soccer Club. He coaches boys and girls teams for the club and has coached local youth club soccer teams for over 10 years.
 
Baptista has extensive experience with Futsal and has participated in numerous competitions internationally, including the FIFA Intercontinental Futsal Cup.
 
A native of Rio De Janeiro, Baptista was a member of the Brazilian team Fluminense Football Club. He played collegiately at San Jose State and Foothill College where he earned two first-team all-conference and Defensive Player of the Year honors.
 
Baptista graduated from San Jose State in 2008 with his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport management.
