Kim Brackin enters her first season on The Farm, adding world-class coaching experience upon her arrival to the Stanford women's swimming and diving program in December 2023. 

Bringing over 20 years of collegiate swim coaching experience to Stanford, Brackin most recently served as head coach of the University of Texas swimming & diving program (2006-2012). With the Longhorns, Brackin led the program to two Big 12 championships and four NCAA top-ten finishes, being named the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2009 & 2011. 

Prior to her arrival to Austin, Brackin served as co-head coach at Auburn University from 1997-2005, working with both the men's and women's swimming programs. While at Auburn, she was part of seven NCAA Championships - three by the Tiger women and four by the Tiger men's swim squad. Her efforts wer highlighted by 2002 NCAA Women's Swimming Co-Head Coach of the Year and 2003 SEC Swimming Co-Head Coach of the Year nominations. 

Prior to Auburn, Brackin was assistant women's swim coach at Northwestern University for two years (1994-96) and also served as men's and women's assistant swim coach at Davidson College (1992-93) and Ithaca College (1991-92).

On the international scene, Brackin acted as head coach for the Zimbabwe National Team, tallying
seven Olympic medals from the 2004 to 2016 Olympic Games. She also coached at six different World Championship meets (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2015), collecting nine World medals in that span. 

Additional coaching experience includes serving as assistant coach for the LA Current of the International Swimming League (2020-21), 2011 USA Duel in the Pool assistant coach, 20023 USA World University Games assistant coach, and 2002 USA National Junior Team assistant coach. 

Brackin received her B.A. in psychology from The University of Albany in 1991 where she swam for four years under her maiden name (Kim McDonald). She then received her master's degree in physical education with concentration in sport psychology from Springfield (Mass.) College in June of 1993.
