Erin Lindsey joined the Stanford volleyball staff as an assistant coach in February 2017. She begins her second season with the program in 2018-19. Lindsey will work closely with the setters and the Cardinal offense.
During her first season with the Cardinal, Lindsey helped guide the squad to a Pac-12 title and an appearance in the national semifinals. Five players garnered AVCA All-America honors, including National Player of the Year Kathryn Plummer.
"I have so much respect for Erin and what she did at Dartmouth as well as coming to Illinois with me," said Stanford head coach Kevin Hambly. "We work great together and to continue that relationship here at Stanford, we are going to grow and get stronger, and really do a nice job with the offense and the setting."
Lindsey comes to Stanford after serving one year as an assistant at Illinois. Prior to her time in Champaign, she had a five-year stint as the head coach at Dartmouth College. In her final season in Hanover, she led the Big Green to the most Ivy League wins in program history as well as its highest finish since 1998. Lindsey was named the 2015 Ivy Co-Coach of the Year, a first for the College.
During her time at Dartmouth, she mentored 10 All-Ivy League selections, four All-Ivy Academic honorees, and two CoSIDA Academic All-District picks. Along with the individual accolades, the team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award four times.
Prior to her time at Dartmouth, Lindsey spent five years as an assistant coach at her alma mater, North Carolina, where she helped develop three AVCA All-Americans, five AVCA All-Region honorees and seven All-ACC players, including the 2005 ACC Player of the Year. While in Chapel Hill, she helped UNC to a share of the ACC regular-season title twice, earning the league's automatic bid in both 2005 and 2008. Serving as recruiting coordinator for the Tar Heels, Lindsey brought in three AVCA All-Region and All-ACC players, including the 2010 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Along with her recruiting duties, she handled various other responsibilities including practice and game-day preparation, player development and travel coordination.
Lindsey has also served as the director of operations for the Carolina Volleyball Camps, Inc., as well as the head coach and director of setting academy at the Triangle Volleyball Club in North Carolina.
A four-year starter and two-time captain at North Carolina from 1995 to 2000, Lindsey graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise and sport science in 2000, before going on to get her master's degree in the same field in 2011.
A native of Hawaii, Lindsey was a star setter for the Tar Heels, earning All-ACC honors and AVCA All-Region accolades twice, as well as being named the 1998 ACC Player of the Year. During the 1998 season, she led UNC to the ACC regular-season championship and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Lindsey, the Tar Heels' all-time leader in career assists, was named to the ACC's 50th Anniversary Team as one of the greatest players in conference history. While completing her bachelor's degree, she was on the coaching staff as an undergraduate assistant for the 1999 ACC Champions.
