David Josephson enters his first season with Stanford football in 2018, and will serve as a defensive graduate assistant.

Josephson comes to The Farm after five years on the coaching staff at Johns Hopkins. Last season, he led the Blue Jay secondary and served as the special teams coordinator. Previously, Josephson coached the Blue Jay receivers (2016) and running backs (2013, 2014) and served one year (2015) as a defensive assistant. He joined the staff in 2013 after his playing career was cut short by an injury. Undaunted, he continued his contribution to the program by quickly becoming a valuable student assistant. He also spent the spring of 2017 as an offensive assistant at Yale.

Josephson was a key member of the Blue Jay offensive staff in 2016 as Johns Hopkins set school records for total offense (6,121), yards per game (510.1), passing yards (4,106) and touchdown passes (37). Three of Josephson's players earned all-conference honors.

Josephson worked with a young crop of Blue Jay running backs in 2013 that produced 260.9 rushing yards per game and 37 touchdowns on the year. The team's 2,870 rushing yards, 260.9 yards per game and 37 rushing touchdowns all ranked second in Johns Hopkins history. In 2014, the Blue Jay running game accounted for 204.2 yards per game and added 34 rushing touchdowns on the year, while Josephson seamlessly transitioned to the defensive side of the ball in 2015 and promptly helped coach a unit that forced 38 turnovers, the third highest total in school history.

Josephson graduated from Johns Hopkins in 2015 with general honors and a degree in economics.
